PRESENTATION OUTLINE

Topic: SDN/SDP - Software Defined Network Perimeter with Data Center Trends Update.

Related Topics/Keywords:

Computer Security, Computer Networking, Computer Security Perimeter, SDN - Software Defined Networking, SDP - Software Defined Perimeter, Secure Infrastructure, Computer Network Security Trends, Data Center Trends.

Introduction & Description of Talks:

This meeting will be exploring some new technologies and standards for dealing with modern distributed computing environments and their security and networking needs. We will also discuss computer networking and security trends from a Data Center operator's perspective.

Presentation Outline:

Presentation: The Best of Colo and Cloud. As the newness wears off IaaS (Infrastructure-as-a-Service), customers are increasingly realizing that some workloads really should run on dedicated, physical infrastructure. Problem is, they've either shutdown their own data centers, or they've let their teams of hardware experts go... or both! With reverse migration in mind, the need for colocation, managed single-tenant hardware platforms and other options, while being delivered with some cloud-like capabilities, such as scalability on demand, OpEx pricing models and shared responsibilities becomes more important. Join us to explore some of these options being made available throughout the industry, based on partnerships, expertise and unique skillsets.

Presentation: The best of VPN, Firewall and NAC, in one product that works everywhere. CISOs everywhere are realizing one basic fact: if something can be found on the network, you can be attacked. Traditional IP-based security solutions are becoming increasing attacked, undermined and overwhelmed. They're becoming irrelevant. What's there to take it's place? Efforts led by Gartner, Forrester and even NIST are helping to define and bring to light an entirely new class of network security solutions that incorporate user identity, posture, and context, along with pinpoint access, dynamic adjustments, encryption everywhere and common/ubiquitous security constructs to light. These solutions are often referred to as Software Defined Perimeter, Zero Trust, CARTA or even ZTNA. Join us to explore some of the realities of these changes, why they're coming, what they mean, who are the players and how to try them out.

COMPANY BIOGRAPHY

[as seen on http://www.cyxtera.com/about-us ...]

Cyxtera represents a vision founded at the confluence of two revolutionary forces: the continued evolution of enterprise IT, and a transformation in infrastructure security. Today's IT estates run in more locations, on more platforms, and with more diverse models than ever before. Enterprise IT is dynamic, distributed, and deeply interconnected. The problem is, too many providers are applying yesterday's security to today's IT. Hardware-centric and inflexible in an API-driven universe. Perimeter-focused in a world without boundaries. The same old cumbersome, expensive firewalls with thousands of static rules trying in vain to secure a world in constant motion.

Cyxtera is the secure infrastructure company. By combining a modern, hybrid-ready information security fabric with an uncommonly diverse and distributed footprint of 57 world-class data centers, Cyxtera delivers a secure platform for connecting and protecting dedicated infrastructure, private clouds and public clouds.

GIVEAWAYS

Addison-Wesley Professional/Prentice Hall PTR/Pearson, and O'Reilly have been kind enough to provide us with review copies of some of their books, which we will continue to raffle off as giveaways at our meetings. The publishers always ask that the persons receiving the books provide a review and/or feedback about their books.

Unigroup would like to thank both publishing companies for the support provided by their User Group programs.

As always, all of the books will be available for review at the start of the meeting.

Note: Our book supply is currently running low, and we need to restock.

FEE SCHEDULE

Unigroup is a Professional Technical Organization and User Group, and its members pay a yearly membership fee. For Unigroup members, there is usually no additional charges (ie. no meeting fees) during their membership year. Non-members who wish to attend Unigroup meetings are usually required to pay a "Single Meeting Fee".

Yearly Membership (includes all meetings): $ 50.00
Student Yearly Membership (with current! ID): $ 25.00
         Non-Member Single Meeting: $ 20.00
Non-Member Student Single Meeting (with! ID): $ 5.00

       * Payment Methods: Cash, Check, American Express.
                          MasterCard, VISA, Discover (since 2013).

! Students: We are looking for proof that you are
currently enrolled in classes (rather than working
full-time), and as such, your Student ID should show
a CURRENT date. We have been presented Student IDs
containing NO dates whatsoever, and in the
         current environment, perpetual/non-expiring access
to university facilities just does not feel right.
If your ID contains no date, please bring
additional proof of current enrollment. Thanks.

NOTE: Simply receiving Unigroup Email Announcements does NOT indicate membership in Unigroup.

Members: Remember to bring your membership card with you to the meeting, to confirm your yearly renewal date!

FOOD AND REFRESHMENTS

Complimentary Food and Refreshments will be served. This includes "wraps" such as turkey, roast beef, chicken, tuna and grilled vegetables as well as assorted salads (potato, tossed, pasta, etc), cookies, brownies, bottled water and assorted beverages.

** However, due to a continuing situation at our caterer, we are planning to have: pizza (cheese+veggy), soda, water, cookies, and brownies at this meeting.

Cyxtera will be sponsoring the food service for this meeting. Thanks Cyxtera!

Please join us for this meeting, you won't want to miss it!
